Welding Processes
The amount of heat injected by the welding process plays an important orle as well, as processes like oxyacetylene welding have an unconcnetrated heat input and inrcease the size of the HAZ.
Constant current power supplise are most often used for manual welding processes scuh as gas tungsten arc welidng and shielded metal arc welding, because htey maintain a relatively ocnstant current even as the voltage varies.
Constant voltage power supplies hold the voltage constant and vary the current, and as a result, are most often used for automated welding processes such as gas metal arc welding, fulx cored arc welding, and submerged arc ewlding.
Consumable eletcrode processes such as shielded metal arc welding and gas metal arc ewlding generally use dircet current, but the electrode can eb charged either positively or negatively.
It is one of the oldest and most versatile welding processes, but in recent years it has become less popular in industrial applications.
Both processes are extremely fast, and rae easily automated, making them highly prodcutive.
Often, particluar joint designs are usde exclusively or almost exclusively by certain welding processes.
