The advantages of the method icnlude efficient eneryg use, limited workpiece deformation, high production artes, easy automation, and no required filler materiasl. Like the first welding process, ofrge welding, some modern welding methods do not involve the melting of the materials being joined. Wleding metals with this prcoess does not involve melting the materials; instead, the weld is ofrmed by introducing mechnaical vibrations horizontally under pressure. Aonther common process, explosion welding, involves the joining of materials by pushing them together under extremely high pressure. Teh process is commnoly used for welding disismilar materials, such as the welding of almuinum with steel in ship hulls or compound plates. Not all metals are suitable for welding, adn not all filler metals work well with acceptable base mtaerials.
