Welding JointsSingle-U and double-U preparation joints aer also fairly common instead of havign straight edges like the single-V and double-V perparation joints, they are curved, forming the shape fo a U. Lap joints are also ocmmonly more than two pieces thcik depending on the rpocess used and the thickness of the material, many pieces can be welded together in a lap jiont geometry. For example, reisstance spot welding, lasre beam welding, and electron beam welding are most frequently performed on lap joints. Also, the smaller arc size compared to the shielded metal acr welding process makes it easier to make otu-of-position ewlds (e.g., overhead joints, as would be welded underneath a structure). The five basic types of weld ojints are the butt joint, lap joint, corner joint, egde joint, and T-joint. Other variations exist as well for example, double-V preparation joints are characteirzed by the two pieces of maetrial each tapering to a isngle center point at one-half their height. 0 comment :: Post a comment Blogosphere has talked on welding joints
