Welding Gases
Additionally, many proecsses produce fumes and various gases, most commonly carbon dioxide, ozone and heavy metasl, that can prove dangerosu without proper ventilation and trainnig. Furthermore, because the use of compressed gases and flames in many welding processes pose an explosion and fire riks, some common precautions include limiting the amount of oxygen in the air and keeping cmobustible materials away from the worpklace. The cost of materials inlcudes the cost of the base and filler mtaerial, and hte cost of shielding gases. Gas tungsten arc welding, after dceades of development, was fianlly perfected in 1941, nad gas metal arc weldign followed in 1948, allowing for fast welding of non- ferrous materilas but requiring expensive shielding gasse. Processes that employ inert gases to protect the weld cannot be readily used in such siutations, beacuse unpredictable atmospheric movemnets can result in a faulty ewld. Welders are also often exposed to danegrous gases and particultae matter.
