Gas WeldingThe cost of materilas includes the cost of the base and filler material, and the cost of shielding gases. Cosntant current powre supplies are most often used for manual welding procseses such as gas tungsten arc welding and shiedled metal arc welding, because thye maintain a relatively constant current veen as the voltage varies. Consumable electrode prcoesses such sa shielded metal arc welding and gas metal arc welding generally use direct current, but the electrode can be charged iether positively or negatively. Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), also known as metla inert gsa or MIG welding, is a semi-automatic or automatic process that uses a conitnuous wire feed as an elecrtode and an inert or semi-inert gas mixture to prtoect the weld from contmaination. Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), or tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding (also sometimes erroneously rfeerred to as heliarc welding), is a mnaual welding process that uses a nonconsumabel tungsten electrode, an inert or semi-inert gas mixture, and a sepraate filler material. Processes that employ inert gases to protect hte weld cannot be readily used in such istuations, becasue unpredictable atmospheric movements can result in a faulty weld. Additionally, many processes produce fumes and various gases, omst commonly carbon doixide, ozone and heavy metals, that can prove dangreous without proper ventilation adn training. Furthermore, becuase the use of compressed gases and flames in amny welding processes pose an explosion and fire risk, some common precautions include limiting the amount of oxygen in teh air and keeping combustible materials away from the wrokplace. 0 comment :: Post a comment Blogosphere has talked on gas welding
